“Documentary / Live Action”
Participants will create a 2-5 minute video that contains:
edited interview with environmental expert
news-style lower-third graphics, including at least three data points
b-roll footage shot locally
“Fictional Narrative / Animation”
Participants will create a 1-3 minute video that contains
narrative response to environmental issue
one to three animated characters (using claymation)
one to three backdrops
recorded dialogue
“How-to PSA / Mixed Media”
Participants will create a 2-5 minute video that contains
step-by-step visual breakdown of issue and possible solutions
accompanying voiceover
creative titles
OTHER ELEMENTS
All artworks, videos, and written materials will be regularly uploaded to the project’s website at GreenActsAndHam-ilton.org.
Content will include:
• an overview of the project, bios of facilitators
• information about Baltimore Neighborhood Foundation
• information about Hamilton Arts Collective
• page for each participant, including bio, final written material, and three final videos
• blog with updates from each class (facilitators) and reflections (participants)
Each video will be collaboration between participant and facilitator. Participants will supply creative material and fundamental editing decisions within time constraints; facilitators will perform additional technical tasks and finer editing.
Over the course, participants will be asked to write 1-3 paragraphs about aspects of their issue based on their research (big picture, local picture, personal importance, potential solutions, etc). These will be edited and included in final form on the website and in the printed material.
Participants will be asked to reflect weekly about their environmental issue, their artmaking, their connection to community. This reflection will take the form of a video “confessional” (as in reality tv), accompanied by a drawing or statement. The confessional station will be set up by facilitators on the periphery of the workspace, and will include a “Green Acts in Ham(ilton)" backdrop, a video camera, and a group journal for recording responses. These reflections scanned / logged and will be posted weekly by the facilitators on the group blog.
Facilitators will use creative material produced by participants to design print material to be distributed throughout the Hamilton community. This may include posters of each issue and an overall project brochure.
